Root water uptake

Post by Cranberry1 » Tue Jan 24, 2012 12:29 am

Hi Jirka,

I have a few questions and was wondering if you could help me. Could you please help me calculate the transpiration of the cranberry plant. Second, pertaining to root water uptake parameters, I haven't been able to locate the cranberry plant in the Database. I would greatly appreciate if it was possible to find it. Third, I didn't understand the difference between the Feddes model and the Solute Stress model considering the fact that I only work with waterflow and not with transport solute.

Best regards

Suzanne

a) Too general to respond
b) If it is not in the database, you need to either find it in the literature, or look for a crop, which is the most similar.
c) Feddes stress response function refers only to water stress. Solute stress is only when you deal with high salinity waters. If not you can ignore it.

Hi Jirka,

With regards to the first question, in the HYDRUS software, among the input parameters, we have evapotranspiration. I have succeed to calculate the evaporation with REF-ET. If I understand correctly, according to HYDRUS, I am able to measure root water uptake. I've attempted to measure this uptake using the FEDDES STRESS model but was unable to do so. Can you guide me what are the steps required to measure root water uptake (transpiration of cranberry applied to my case). Second, I am not able to find crop in the database. Is it possible you tell me where I can find it.

Best regards
