Hello,
I have read that "if no adsorption or source/sinks, then S=0 in the Advection Dispersion Equation" in the Soil Physics with Hydrus. Does this mean that S will NOT be equal to zero if the solute will be adsorbed by the soil even WITHOUT root water uptake?
Thank you in advance.

Re: Sinks
No, it does not. The S term in eq. 6.14 usually represents kinetic processes (degradation, radionuclide decay, production, root solute uptake, etc). You can still have instantaneous sorption as described using adsorption isotherm (and the distribution coefficient Kd). J.
