fit conductivity data from Gardner model with Mualem model

A discussion forum for RETC users. RETC is a program which can be used to analyze the soil water retention and hydraulic conductivity functions of unsaturated soils.

fit conductivity data from Gardner model with Mualem model

Post by mariettelahaye » Wed Jul 06, 2016 12:31 pm

Hello :)
I used a tensio-infiltrometer on the field to obtain conductivity data at 3 different pressures.
To get K(h), I had to use Gardner method as explain in the manual. But I don't want to use this model, but Mualem model.
Does someone know if I can use K(h) values from Gardner in RETC to fit them with Mualem model ?

Thanks in advance !
Marie

You can use any K(h) [or K(theta)] data points and fit them in RETC using either Mualem or Burdine model. However, it will be difficult to do that if you have only 3 data points. You may end up with more fitting parameters than data points, which is obviously not possible. J.
