How to find the manual?

A discussion forum for RETC users. RETC is a program which can be used to analyze the soil water retention and hydraulic conductivity functions of unsaturated soils.

How to find the manual?

Post by katja.weber » Tue Feb 23, 2016 12:17 pm

On the website it is said that RETC comes with a manual. Can anyone tell me how/where to find it? I figured out how to open the test data sets and also read the read.me.
Is there any manual available that I am just not able to find? Or is there a separate manual that can be bought somewehere?

Eventhough the software is quite self-explanatory a manual would be helpful.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Best regards
Katja

Katja,

There is no user manual, since as you say the software is quite self-explanatory. There is only a technical manual (theoretical background about soil hydraulic properties and their models), which you can get at http://www.pc-progress.com/en/Default.aspx?retc.

If you want more information, you can get them from Rien's webpage: http://www.pc-progress.com/en/Default.a ... -genuchten

Such as the classics:
225. van Genuchten, M. Th. 1980. A closed-form equation for predicting the hydraulic conductivity of unsaturated soils. Soil Sci. Soc. Am. J., 44(5): 892-898.

207. van Genuchten M. Th., and D. R. Nielsen. 1985. On describing and predicting the hydraulic properties of unsaturated soils. Annales Geophysicae, 3(5): 615-628.
