Hello everyone,
I use NaCl as a tracer for my experiment, can I use salinity instead of electrical conductivity to get the BTC?
Thanks for your help.
BTC of tracer
Re: BTC of tracer
Yes just prepare a few standard solutions of NaCl (i.e. 4 total solutions of added salt concentration 0g/l, 1g/l, 3 g/l, and 5g/l) and calibrate your salinity readings to the concentration standards. Then you can use whatever your salinity reading is as a good surrogate for concentration. I've done this dozens of times. It works well.
Just be careful if you're doing this with real and not an idealized sand. Some soils have high AEC and CEC that can retard salt and make it an unreliable tracer.
