Anion exclusion modelling

I saw that the breakthrough curves for Br- did not pass through the relative concentration of 0.5 at one pore volume but was translated toward the Y-axis (early arrival). I though that this phenomenon should be anion exclusion.
(i) Can I use equilibrium CDE model to fit my curves? I am a little bit confused on whether anion exclusion is should be an equilibrium process or non-equilibrium..
(ii) Except for anion exclusion, would preferential flow played a role? If so, should I use non-equilibrium models to fit my curves?
