Hi Jirka,
I am using Hydrus 1D to estimate the soil drainage flux for my tropical site based on hydraulic properties estimated with five pedotransfer functions. I have coarse-textured soil between 0-30 cm and fine-textured subsurface soil between 30-100 cm, hence some PTFs predict n that is greater than´1.1 for the coarse-textured surface soils and n that is less than 1.05 for the fine-textured subsurface soils. Would you recommend in such a situation to check the air entry value of - 2 cm when selecting the normal VG-M model? I always run into non-convergence issues for one PTF. I have tried checking the air entry value for all the PTFs but the results look somewhat artificial. Kindly advise!
Thank you
n greater than 1.1 for coarse textured surface soils and less than 1.05 for fine textured subsurface soils

We always recommend using the option with the air-entry value when n is small (<1.2). J.
