Hydrus-1D Horizontal flow

Post by isti03 » Thu Apr 29, 2021 10:11 pm

Dear Members,

In my experiment, I consider horizontal flow. In that case, I select soil hydraulic parameters for sand but its ks value is the same as vertical flow.

Could you please tell me, how the flow works in a horizontal column in Hydrus-1D? is it goes left to right or top to bottom?

Thanks in advance

Well, conductivity is a material property, which is independent of the direction of flow. You may want to revisit Darcy’s law. Direction flow will always depend on the imposed boundary conditions, i.e., it can be both to the left or to the right. J.
