How to check groundwater level in Hydrus-1D

Post by Zhengmiao LI » Fri Apr 07, 2017 7:35 am

Dear Jirka,

I am now using Hydrus-1D to estimate drainage flux.
Cause i already had the groundwater level measurement data. Hence, i want use groundwater level to calibrate my model.
When i checked the result, i just found 'pressure head' in the Observation poins result.

I want to know 1. the pressure head is groundwater level or not?

Another question, If not, is there any relationship between pressure head and groundwater level ? or is it possible for me to check groundwater level in Hydrus-1D ?

Thanks in advance and look forward to your reply.
Best regards

The bottom pressure head is the position of the water table. Similarly, if you place an observation node at the bottom of the domain, the pressure head in this node gives you the position of the water table. J.

In other words, hBot minus the height of the domain is the depth of the water table, correct?

What is meant by height of the domain? Is it the total height of the soil/peat column. I have upper boundary condition as atmospheric BC with surface runoff and bottom condition as constant flux i.e. no flux from peat layer to bottom as there is a bed rock at the bottom. Can I have variable simulated water table depth within my profile.

The distance between the top and bottom of the profile. J.
