How can I estimate salt variation using HYDRUS-1D with a large dataset?

Post by Rabeb Dridi » Tue Jun 17, 2025 9:46 am

Hello,
I am trying to estimate salt variation in an irrigated field using HYDRUS-1D (version 4.xx). mid-, and Long- term.
I have a large dataset (over 10,000 daily values).

How can I use this large dataset in HYDRUS-1D to simulate salinity changes over time?

Thank you for your help!

HYDRUS-1D allows you to consider up to 15,000 data points in the objective function. However, I highly doubt that having so many data points is beneficial. I think it would be a good idea to use some kind of a filter to limit the number of data points. J.
