Multiyear water dynamic simulation

Post by rafaelvillarreal » Mon Sep 30, 2024 11:31 pm

Dear Jirka, I am trying to simulate a long period of water dynamics (407 days) in the A horizon. The simulation runs perfect, but during winter (with a winter crop growing) the soil gets too dry in the simulation and there is a significant differences with the observed data. I think that may be the problem could be related to meteorological data (Hargreaves Formula is selected, with Tmax and Tmin as meteorological conditions), since I don't know how toset the time zero to January 1. My simulation starts on october (day 94 of the year) and ends on may of the following year (day 135). If I put this information on the Time Information window, the simulation will have just 41 days.

I would like some advice about this. Thank you very much in advance. Best regards.

Rafael

January 1 should be time zero (first day) if you use the meteo data. October thus will be about 270+i (and May next year 365+120+i). You can go over 365 if your simulation continues to the second and further years (i.e., the second year should start with 366 and continue further, etc). HYDRUS uses the MOD function to reduce time to one year [DayNo=mod(DayNo,365.)] and to get global radiation data.

Dear Jirka, thank you for your answer. I am trying to run the simulation following your suggestion. However, when I run the simulation with the new numbering of the days, does not converge. Below I put the used data:

In time Information windows:
Initial time [day]: 93 (4-april-2019)
Final time [day]: 500 (14-may-2020)
Initial time step [day]: 0.01
Minimum time step [day]: 0.0001
Maximum time step [day]: 0.04
Time-variable boundary conditions and Meteorological data: 407 Records.

In variable Boundary Conditions and Meteorological Conditions windows the first record corresponds to day 94 and the last one to 500

Maybe I am overlooking something. Thank you again. Best regards.

Seems reasonable to me. I do not see any problems. J.
