Simulation in infiltration well

Post by Eliane Justino » Mon Feb 11, 2019 10:29 am

Dear all,

I'm modeling an infiltration well used to control runoff with Hydrus 2D. I have all the data on precipitation, evapotranspiration and water height inside of the well.

My boundary conditions are:
- atmospheric boundary – top of the soil;
- no flow - sides of the soil;
– free drainage - bottom of the soil;
– variable head - on the walls of the well.

When the well and surface of the soil receive water in the first precipitations, the soil seems can not lose water during the dry season, mainly below the bottom of the well, which causes all soil to become saturated at the end of the simulation.
The soil near the bottom of the well remains saturated throughout the simulation, as if the load inside the well were not zero. But the field-installed humidity sensors show that this is not real.

Any help/comment would be highly appreciated!

Thank you!

What type of boundary conditions are you using when modeling the well? Are you using the newly-implemented Reservoir BC (in Version 3 of HYDRUS (2D/3D))? See its description in

Šimůnek, J., M. Šejna, and M. Th. van Genuchten, New features of the version 3 of the HYDRUS (2D/3D) computer software package, Journal of Hydrology and Hydromechanics, 66(2), 133-142, doi: 10.1515/johh-2017-0050, 2018.

Hi Mr. Jirka,

Thank you for your return.
I use the version Hydrus3D_2.05.0270, since when I enter ELIS, it is the last version I have available. Does this mean that my license (Lic ID: 1993) is not allowed to use version 3?

There is an upgrade fee to upgrade from Version 2.x to Version 3.x. J.

Very interesting, Mr. Jirka.
It is possible to have access to the test version.

Thanks.

You can download all the examples that I have mentioned, as well as the demo of Version 3 of HYDRUS (so that you can view these examples).

Note that we have also uploaded much more complex "Drywell" examples (https://www.pc-progress.com/en/Default. ... ib-Drywell), in which we use this new special BC (an EPA project for which this option has been developed).

Good morning Mr. Jirka,

Sorry, ma when I said test version, I wanted to know if there is a possibility of the free temporary upgrade from Version 2.x to Version 3.x.

Thanks

I'm not involved in the distribution of the software and cannot thus answer such questions. I do not think there is. J.

All right, Mr. J.
How do I know the amount of the fee to buy the upgrade from Version 2.x to Version 3.x?

Thanks.
