Hi,

I have been unable to add solute through nodal recharge.

I've set up a very simple rectangular domain in HYDRUS 2.05 with horizontal flow between constant head boundaries at opposite ends. Nodal recharge is set up at a single point internal to the domain and amounts to roughly 25% of the total flow. The resulting pressure, water content, and velocity fields are as I would expect. I also get an appropriate concentration field when I add solute to the upstream boundary using cBnd1. However, inserting a nonzero value for cWell has no effect on the concentration.

I've tried the reverse problem by starting with a nonzero initial concentration and trying to flush the system with cWell and cBnd1 set to zero. In this case, I get flushing from the upstream boundary, but none from the nodal recharge.

I assume that I'm missing something simple here and would appreciate any input that you can give.

See the attached examples, which gives all combinations of internal sources (head and flux, constant and time variable). J.

PS:I'm in transition in Seattle on the way to Beijing, and thus have no time to test it again.

Thank you so much. Re-creating the examples that you sent led me to a solution. My choice to use the word "simple" in my original post was unfortunate. I've always used 2D-general, and had never worked with 2D-simple until you sent those examples.

Using the "Set Nodal Recharge" command worked fine in both 2D-simple and 2D-general. This allowed me to add solute along with recharge water.

Previously, I had been using the "New Nodal Recharge" command in 2D-general so that I could assign recharge to a specific geometric object (a point). This process worked fine for adding/subtracting water, but I have not been able to make it work for solute.
