soil properties for downscaled models

I am using Hydrus 2D to simulate the water flow in a clay soil.
the original scale is about 10 X 40 meters and to be able to run it and keep the result stable I have to reduce the minimum time step or increase the iterations and by doing so the running time is very long even for a small time limit.
i have already tried to reduce the number of point and recreate the mesh in different ways but non have worked.
my question is: is it possible to downscale the model (for example 10 m = 10 cm) and still use the soil properties in the software?
if not are there formulas to change the properties so it will reflect the real situation?

I do not think that you can do that, because it is a nonlinear problem.

You should upgrade. Version 1 of HYDRUS (2D/3D) is about 50% faster than the old HYDRUS-2D, and version 2 is likely more than 4 times faster.
