Re: FE Mesh Generation error

Hello Rachel, I didn't notice that there was a miniature opening in the center of the circle, I thought that points 5 and 6 had been entered by a mistake. If you really need such a small opening there, then I recommend dividing the domain into two circles (inner and outer) and inserting a reasonable...

Re: FE Mesh Generation error

The HYDRUS mesh generator is relatively very robust, but it is really not possible to guarantee the successful mesh-generation for any input data (even incorrect/meaningless). The solution is deleting points No. 5 and 6 - see attached figures. Attached is also the fixed project. M. Mesh_err1.jpg Mes...

Re: FE Mesh Generation error

Rachel, if I don't have your project, I have no idea what's wrong. Without your project, I can hardly help you.

Re: Need help for Mesh Refinement

Of course, you can use two curves, you only need to use a suitable mesh refinement on them (or at their definition points). I also recommend using two surfaces - see attached picture.

Re: Defining properties for a circle

I also don't know what the problem is. You can specify boundary conditions either directly on the mesh (at each node) or on geometric objects (boundary curves). If you need to divide a curve into several segments, it is very easy - see the attached picture. I think it would be useful for you to watc...

Re: Error in calculation of stresses

The response from the developers of the "Slope Cube" module: "1. The values of effective stress are very close to the difference between total stress and suction stress. The small difference comes from obtaining values at the nodes versus the centroid of each element. For example, at the top of the ...

Re: How to set the graphical results output format?

This option is not available in the current version of HYDRUS. However, it will be available in a next version later this year. It will work for both 2D and 3D projects - see the picture with a 3D example.

Re: Error in calculation of stresses

To answer your question, we need to have your project (* .h3d3 file). Send this project to support@pc-progress.com as a ZIP archive (if its size is smaller than 15 MB) or send a link for downloading this file from your FTP server or another source. You can also upload the ZIP archive here to this di...

Re: Cannot open h1d projects

It is not possible to open * .h1D projects by double-clicking on a project file (i.e. via association of the * .h1d extension with Hydrus1.exe in Windows system). This does not work and it will only work in the new version of Hydrus-1D (version 5) once it is released.

Re: Mesh generation

As I already wrote, there is no "Surface" in your domain - you must create at least one surface. See attached video.

Re: Mesh generation

The blue color represents the domain (= one or more „Surfaces“) for which the mesh is generated. If there is no surface, the FE-mesh cannot be generated. The hole in the surface (see the circle in your picture) can be easily created using the "Opening via Boundaries" command (on the Editbar). We hav...

Re: Fixing Observation nodes in 3D project

A "Simple Domain" is intended for simple things, i.e. observation nodes can only be placed at mesh nodes (although they are not located where you want). If you want to have a better control over the location of observation nodes, use the 2D-General domain type. As for the missing results for the obs...

Re: Need help on FE-Mesh generating

The topology of your transport domain has many errors - see attached document Topo_Errors.pdf. These errors must be corrected. I recommend you to read "HYDRUS Geometry and B-Rep Model" at: https://www.pc-progress.com/en/OnlineHelp/HYDRUS3/Hydrus.html?HYDRUSGeometryandBRepModel.html https://www.pc-pr...
