Re: HP1 with more than 20 solutes

Can you just send your email address to djacques@sckcen.be for the version with more than 20 components

Re: HP1 with more than 20 solutes

Hello, you cannot run more than 20 species with the default HPx program (as embedded in the HYDRUS GUI). We have a dummy version that I distributed on request (if you send me your email address). The issue of Mn I cannot solve now - do you have it also with less than 20 components? I tried Mn in the...

Re: HP2 running so slow

Hi, one possibility is that your system / rate equations become stiff. Sometimes this can be solved by using the cvode option in the KINETIC data block. Did you test the rate equations for relevant geochemical conditions in batch mode (phreeqc) or 1D? this might give more insight in the stability of...

Re: HP1 pH differences from PHREEQC run

Hi,

I guess you use surface complexation with -no_edl option. In that case, the solution is not neutral, but has a charge that has to be transported. You need to add an additional 'solute' to be transported, namely Charge,

Re: Question on the necessety of HP1 for my project and on the download web adress

Dear, if hydrus-1D can handle the water flow for your problem (capillary rise in a porous media), then HP1 can handle the geochemistry (calculating saturation index and mineral precipitation). To include the combined flow, transport and geochemistry, you indeed need to be familiar with the water flo...

Re: Water balance with hydrated minerals

Dear,

you are correct, water consumed by mineralogical reactions are not accounted for in the distributed version of HPx. However, everything is implemented in a beta version, but it needs to be benchmarked. I will inform you when this is done,

Re: HP2 kinetics

Hello,

I will need to make a test case by myself to evaluate everything is implemented ok. However, we worked once with kinetics and solute uptake by roots in 2D which was working fine.

I will keep you informed on my benchmark,

Re: HP1 with gas diffusion

Dear,

the HP1 version in the HYDRUS version you obtain from PC-progress does not contain the most recent version for gas diffusion.

If you send me your email, I can provide you a link to a beta version with the most recent version of HP1

Re: Basic statement for transpiration rate

I guess you are working with the official released version of HP as included in the HYDRUS-GUI. the function is probable not present in that version.
If you send me your Email, I can provide a link to a version that includes water_sink

Sorry for the inconvenience

Re: Solute Time Variable Boundary Condition

Hi, Minerals as such can not be transported in HP. The components defined within the PHASES datablock are all treated as immobile phases. However, you can treat the insoluble mineral as an aqueous component and then it will be transported with the advection-dispersion equation. You can add then kine...

Re: As(3)&As(5) lacking in HP1

Note also that the list in the graphical user interface only lists some of the most common component users usually use. If your specific component is not in the list, as is the case of As (or if you define a new component), you can also just type the component in the Component table.

Re: Time unit difference between HP1 and RATE expressions

Hi, So the rate equation is solved correctly, but the TIME basic function prints something unexpected. Correct? I have looked in the source code, and I do not see immediately why it returns 1 with -cvode true. Note that this is also the case when running PHREEQC only (e.g. PHREEQCI). In following pr...
