Tutorials
We provide tutorials for several software packages, including brief downloadable videos in which these tutorials are carried out step by step. These tutorials allow software users to interactively teach themselves to use the basic components of the software, including the process of data entry and the display of calculated results. Video tutorials can be played directly (on-line) from our web site, or they can be downloaded as executable files and played off-line.
The tutorials provided below are divided into several groups, according to the HYDRUS version, for which there were developed (different versions of HYDRUS (2D/3D) and HYDRUS-1D). Note that tutorials carried out with older versions of HYDRUS (versions 1, 2, and 3 of HYDRUS (2D/3D) and versions 3 and 4 of HYDRUS-1D) are relevant also for the latest version of HYDRUS, since these examples can be easily converted from older formats to newer formats using the commands of the Project Manager. We will be continuously adding new examples and tutorials (likely only for the latest version of the software). We encourage HYDRUS users to provide us with suggestions of problems they would like to see included here.
HYDRUS (2D/3D)
HYDRUS (2D/3D), version 3.x
The purpose of the tutorials given here is to give HYDRUS users hands-on experience with the new GUI functions of the HYDRUS software package. Several examples are provided to familiarize users with the new tools offered in this version.
HYDRUS (2D/3D), version 2.x
The purpose of the tutorials given here is to give HYDRUS users hands-on experience with the 3D-Professional version of the HYDRUS software package. Several examples are provided to familiarize users with the new tools offered in this version. A majority of the tutorials deals with the main concepts and procedures of complex domain designs.
HYDRUS (2D/3D), version 1.x
The purpose of the tutorials given here is to give HYDRUS users hands-on experience with version 1 of HYDRUS (2D/3D). Note that this version includes the following four Levels: 2D-Lite, 2D-Standard, 3D-Lite, and 3D-Standard, and thus tutorials given here do not provide information about 3D-Professional. Further note, that most of these tutorials demonstrate features of HYDRUS that are, with a few exceptions (e.g., the recommendation to assign properties to geometric objects rather than FE mesh), fully relevant for users of version 2 as well.
Hydrus-1D
The purpose of the tutorials provided here is to give HYDRUS users hands-on experience with the Hydrus-1D software package and with its modules, such as HP1 (coupled HYDRUS-1D and PHREEQC). The H1D tutorials start with a simple introductory example (i.e., infiltration into a homogeneous soil profile), and follow with more complex problems such as a) transient flow and transport of multiple solutes in a layered soil profile, b) transport of a volatile solute, c) coupled water, vapor, and heat transport, and d) nonequilibrium water flow and solute transport. A large number of tutorials is also provided for the HP1 program.
Hydrus-2D (old version 1996-2005)
Tutorials for the old Hydrus-2D, a predecessor of HYDRUS 2D/3D.
