Online HYDRUS Short Course: September 7-8, 2022
We will introduce a new Version 5 of HYDRUS resulting from merging HYDRUS-1D with HYDRUS (2D/3D) and including new modules such as PFAS, Particle Tracking, Dynamic Plant Uptake, Cosmic, etc.

Course scope
The course begins with a detailed conceptual and mathematical description of water flow and solute transport processes in the vadose zone. Special attention is given to the highly nonlinear nature of the governing flow equation. Alternative methods for describing and modeling the hydraulic functions of unsaturated porous media are also described. "Hands-on" computer sessions will provide participants an opportunity to become familiar with the Windows-based Version 5 of HYDRUS (resulting from merging the HYDRUS-1D with HYDRUS (2D/3D) software packages and including new modules such as PFAS, Particle Tracking, Dynamic Plant Uptake, Cosmic). Emphasis will be on the preparation of input data for a variety of applications, including flow and transport in a vadose zone of a one-dimensional soil profile and a two-dimensional transport domain with a subsurface drip irrigation. Calibration will be discussed and demonstrated by means of a one-dimensional inverse problem.
Participants will get a PDF file with all lectures and tutorial instructions, as well as online access to all carried out examples.
Enrollment & Registration
The fee for the short course is $350 by August 15, 2022 ($400 after August 15). Graduate students can request a $100 discount from the full fee. The fee covers instruction, course notes, and software license during the course. All prices are without VAT (21%), which is not charged to companies.
If cancellation is made before August 15, 2022, tuition will be refunded except for the $100 deposit. Cancellations made after that date will forfeit a $100 processing fee in addition to the $100 deposit. In case of cancellation, the right to course material is forfeited. Substitutions are permitted at any time prior to the start of the course. Please be advised that if the program is canceled due to insufficient enrollment, we will return all course fees, but will not be liable for any other expenses incurred by the prospective attendees.
