HYDRUS Course in Prague, 2010 - Canceled
Dear HYDRUS users,
Unfortunately, we have to inform you that we have decided not to organize this year's HYDRUS short course in Prague. After we organized very successful courses in the last two years (both with about 30 participants), this year, the interest was minimal (likely as a result of the global recession). Since so far we have only two paying people (and few people who expressed interest, but did not pay), we would not be able to recover the cost of organizing the course, which is substantial, because of the need for the course instructor to travel all the way from California. We will fully reimburse those who have already paid. We understand that this may be very inconvenient to you and we apologize for all the trouble this decision may cause you.
If you are still interested in the HYDRUS course, we would like to offer you an alternative. Utrecht University in the Netherlands will be organizing this summer (July 2-9) as part of their "Summer School" a short course entitled "Upscaling and Modeling of Reactive Transport in (Partially)-Saturated Porous Media". Note that HYDRUS short course is Module 1 (July 2-4) of this short course, which is overall much broader in its scope. It includes also detailed instructions on how to work with HP1 (coupled HYDRUS and PHREEQC) and several theoretical lectures on upscaling, fundamentals of mass transfer among phases in porous media, and transport of viruses and bacteria. Also note that in addition to Prof. Simunek, the course will be taught also by Dr. van Genuchten, Dr. Jacques, Prof. Hassanisadez, and others. We hope that you will find this option an acceptable alternative to our HYDRUS short course in Prague. Thank you for your understanding.
Best regards,
Yours HYDRUS team
